Five dead in a head-on collision between a truck and a car

Five people died after a frontal crash between a car and a truck in the Buenos Aires town of saladilloat kilometer 181.5 of route 205.

According to police sources, the tragic accident took place in the early hours of this Monday, when a Fiat Palio car and a Ford model 1400 truck collided head-on, in the section that joins Sanguinetti and Frochan avenues.

The truck, which was traveling in the direction of Roque Pérez – Saladillo, collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Prisma car in which five people were traveling and, when changing lanes due to the impact, rammed the Fiat Palio head-on.

As a result of the strong impact four of the five occupants of the car lost their lives instantly, while the driver of the truck suffered several blows. Meanwhile, the fifth victim died after being treated at the Posadas Hospital in Saladillo.

The victims were identified as Guillermo Daniel Stornelli, 45, his partner Yamila Inés Moreno, 37; the couple’s two daughters, Candela Abril Stornelli and Lourdes Mailén Santalucía; and Yamila’s mother, María Margarita Milano, 62.

After the event, the route was completely cut off and experts from the Scientific Police and the Saladillo police station attended the scene.

The case was handled by the decentralized Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) number 2 of Saladillo, which labeled the file for the moment as quintuple manslaughter.

The testimonies of witnesses to the event and the images from the cameras of the Monitoring Center and other private ones existing in the place will be added to the investigation.

it transpired that the truck belongs to a logistics company in the town of San Miguel del Monte and the driver will be charged in the next few hours.
