Fetisov announced the potential for creating a new union of states on environmental issues

BOLSHOE GOLOUSTNOE / Irkutsk region /, March 8. The current geopolitical situation makes it possible to create a new union of states in the Eurasian space on environmental issues. This opinion was expressed to TASS on Wednesday by State Duma deputy, UN goodwill ambassador, chairman of the All-Russian Society for the Conservation of Nature Vyacheslav Fetisov.

“We (the All-Russian Society for the Conservation of Nature – TASS note) have an agreement on mutual cooperation with a (similar) organization in Azerbaijan, an agreement has been signed with Chinese environmental structures. We believe that at this interesting time there is an opportunity to create a new union in the Eurasian space, where we will be able to create our own standards, understand our advantages,” the source said.

He noted that Russia is a country with the largest territory and the largest life support resource, which affects the scale of environmental pollution. In particular, new standards for assessing environmental damage and combating pollution would allow Russia to feel more confident at the international level in matters of environmental protection.

Fetisov took part in the festival and gala match with the participation of the legends of Russian ice hockey on Lake Baikal, which are held to draw special public attention to the lake and its problems.
