WORLD CLASSIC: Juan Soto "best" of the calf;  he still intends to play with Dominican

Peoria. the dominican Juan Jose Soto sold out some shifts during a Batting practice live in the back diamonds of the Peoria Sports Complex on Tuesday, as he continues to prepare for his potential incorporation to the selection of the Dominican Republic that will dispute the World Baseball Classic starting this Saturday at the loanDepot park in Miami.

The Padres’ all-star outfielder has been dealing with a tight left calf for much of these workouts, but he says it has improved significantly.

“He’s doing much better,” Soto said of the calf. “I feel ready to start and be a little more aggressive with my training,” mentions the Las Mayores.com portal.

Soto hopes to join the Dominican team on Friday in Miami, which could leave him ready to start the game against Venezuela on Saturday. But there’s also the possibility that Soto could be limited early in the tournament, perhaps serving as designated hitter or sitting out a couple of games.
