"We have all touched girls": Technician causes outrage and is fired

(AFP) The Angers club, from the French first divisionannounced this Tuesday the resignation of his coach Abdul Bouhazama, weakened by his failure at the sporting level and by an inappropriate comment in support of a player accused of groping a woman.

“In the face of media pressure and to preserve the image of the club and the serenity of the dressing room, Abdel Bouhazama has announced to President Said Chabane that he has decided to step down,” the club announced in a statement.

Angers is last in Ligue 1 and has not won since September.

The coach, already criticized for the sports tour, worsened his situation after revealing some of his words in the talk prior to last Sunday’s game (5-0 defeat in Montpellier).

The coach was looking to give confidence to Ilyes Chetti, a 28-year-old defender, starting for only the third time this season, when the local press revealed that week that he had admitted touching a young woman in a nightclub and that he would be tried in April.

“It’s not bad, we’ve all touched girls”declared the coach before Sunday’s defeat in Montpellier (5-0), according to various sources quoted by the newspapers Ouest France and L’Equipe and confirmed by an AFP correspondent.

This situation arrives after the president of the club himselfSaid Chabane, has been accused of sexual assault since 2020, following complaints from six women, who were his employees at the time of the events.
