More than 100 daycare centers in Brandenburg could remain closed on Wednesday due to a warning strike by the Verdi union in social and educational services. Verdi has called for a nationwide day of action with warning strikes in social and educational services for Women’s Day. A central campaign for Brandenburg is planned in Königs Wusterhausen, in which employees from five cities and twelve towns in Brandenburg can take part. According to Verdi, around 110 daycare centers will be affected in these locations, which may result in operational restrictions or closures.

At the second site of action in Hennigsdorf, it is planned that people from nine cities, two district administrations and four municipalities are on warning strikes. The chairwoman of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), Yasmin Fahimi, is also expected there. Verdi is demanding 10.5 percent more salary for federal and municipal employees, but at least an increase of 500 euros. There had been no rapprochement in the second round of negotiations last week.
