US media report that an armed faction of the Gulf cartel would be behind the kidnapping, last Friday, of four citizens of said country in matamoroswho have already been identified.

The four Americans were traveling in a white van with North Carolina license plates. ABC News identified them as Latavia “Tay” McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown and Eric James Williams.
Barbara Burgess, 54, a mother from Latavia, said her daughter traveled to Matamoros with her cousin Shaeed to undergo a “cosmetic medical procedure.” The other two hostages, Burgess said, are friends of her daughter.

A license belonging to Williams, who was driving the van, was found at the scene, sources close to the investigation said. Burgess told ABC that she asked her daughter not to travel to Mexico. “Mom, I’ll be fine”Latavia replied, before leaving.
The woman confirmed fbi that Williams was the person with whom his daughter and nephew traveled to Mexico. Burgess also said that her daughter contacted her on Friday and told her that it was about 15 minutes from the doctor’s office.
However, when the mother tried to contact her later, she could not be reached. “His phone sent me directly to the mailbox”he told ABC News.
The FBI offered a reward of 50 thousand dollars to anyone who provides information that leads to those responsible for the kidnapping.
