MOSCOW, 7 March. /TASS/. The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Leonid Slutsky, called the news of the newspaper another distraction The New York Times that a pro-Ukrainian group could carry out sabotage on the Nord Streams. Slutsky expressed this opinion on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
“The publication of the NYT is another distraction, the purpose of which is to switch attention from the true “authors” of the terrorist attack to the abstract insurgents. But who will believe that a military, in fact, operation of such a scale can be carried out by an unknown DRG (sabotage and reconnaissance group – approx. TASS),” Slutsky said.
How informed The New York Times on Tuesday, new intelligence suggests that a pro-Ukrainian group may have carried out sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines. The publication says that the group allegedly acted without the knowledge of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the authorities in Kyiv. At the same time, earlier in February, Seymour Hersh, an American investigative journalist, citing a source, stated in his article that explosive devices under gas pipelines were planted in June 2022 under the cover of the Baltops exercise by US Navy divers with the support of Norwegian specialists. According to Hersh, the decision to conduct the operation was made by US President Joe Biden after nine months of discussions with administration officials involved in national security issues.
“Without a doubt, 0:1 in favor of Seymour Hersh,” Slutsky said. According to him, the authors of the publication in The New York Times refer “to American officials and some intelligence”, but at the same time, “officials refused to provide the publication with any details to prove the new version.” “They also did not specify whether the Washington group, sharpened to continue the conflict in Ukraine and increase the supply of weapons to the Kiev regime in order to weaken Russia, falls into the category of “pro-Ukrainian” Washington group,” Slutsky stressed.
At the same time, he added, the publication could be a signal for the Kyiv regime and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “It’s also a wake-up call for the Kyiv regime: Zelensky and his “rebels” will be “merge” as soon as the fire starts in Washington,” Slutsky is sure.
