After months of rumors about a potential return of actors from other series born from the Marvel-Netflix alliance, another major star is on his way to the MCU. sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Jon Bernthal will return to play Frank Castle, the anti-hero aka The Punisher, in Daredevil: Born Again.
The 46-year-old actor played the vigilante for the first time in the second season of Daredevil in 2016. This incarnation of the Punisher was later given his own series for Netflix. The series had two seasons with a total of 26 episodes broadcast between 2017 and 2019.
Bernthal joins Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the new Marvel Studios series that begins shooting this month in New York. Daredevil: Born Again is planned as a massive 18-episode epic. Writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord will be behind the project.
But what other actors in the world of defenders Will they eventually join the MCU? The answer seems to be in the air, because THR also informs that the returns of other regular stars of Daredevil as Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who gave life to Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, respectively. However, it’s unclear if those characters will be recast with other actors or simply removed from this story entirely.
