Russia’s defense minister spoke on Tuesday about the Ukraine conflict. He described Western arms deliveries to Kiev as useless. Also, the minister gave his assessment of Ukrainian military casualties in February.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu, attended a meeting of the top leadership of the Russian Armed Forces. in his speech cut the minister addressed several issues. Among other things, it was about the Ukraine conflict, western arms deliveries to Kiev and the situation around Artemowsk.
According to Shoigu, as part of the US strategy to break Russia with armed force, the West is increasing its arms supplies to Ukraine. In addition, the training programs for Ukrainian soldiers would be expanded. Nevertheless, the minister emphasizes, this does not lead to any military successes of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield. On the contrary, the losses of the Kiev troops are said to have increased significantly. In February alone they are said to have increased by 40 percent compared to January and amounted to over 11,000 soldiers. In this context, Shoigu finds the Ukrainian authorities’ indifference towards their own people in favor of their Western allies particularly surprising.
“For us, on the other hand, the protection of our soldiers and the civilian population remains of the utmost importance.”
As for the situation at the front, Shoigu reports on the liberation of five settlements in the zone of military special operations. These are Nikolayevka, Krasnaya Gora and Paraskoviyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Dvurechnoye and Gryanikovka in the Kherson region. In addition, the Russian armed forces continue to liberate Artemovsk, the Defense Minister stressed. Control over this city, which is considered to be an important hub for the defense of Ukrainian troops in Donbass, would allow further offensive actions deep into the Ukrainian defenses.
In conclusion, the Defense Minister once again reminded that the tasks within the framework of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine would continue to be performed.
