Flight cancellations and delays at Austrian Airlines

A staff meeting of the flight crew, which started at 9 a.m., disrupted flight operations, the airline told APA in advance. According to the current status, 34 flights and around 1,700 passengers will be affected. However, around 4,200 passengers can start their flight this morning.

Destinations in Central Europe are mainly affected by the adjustments. “Austrian Airlines long-haul destinations can currently be served regularly,” said AUA. The airline has already actively informed those passengers who provided a telephone number or email address when booking about flight adjustments and rebookings.

The works council for on-board personnel has invited the approximately 3,200 members of the on-board staff to a works meeting, which according to the on-board works council will last two to three hours. The meeting will probably last two to three hours. “It’s hard to say how many employees are coming,” said Rainer Stratberger, board works council, to the APA. He expects 600 to 1,000 participants. After all, many employees are on the road or on vacation. At the works meeting, the on-board staff should be informed about the faltering renegotiations on the collective agreement (KV).

The Agency for Passenger and Passenger Rights points out that passengers are entitled to the following rights in the event of a flight cancellation at short notice: Passengers have the right to a refund of the ticket price including taxes and fees or to a return flight to the place of departure at the earliest possible time. If the flight costs are reimbursed, the airline must also reimburse any additional costs incurred for the new flight ticket with comparable travel conditions.

However, there is also a right to alternative transport to the destination under comparable conditions and without additional costs for the passenger. In the event of delays, passengers are entitled to compensation of up to 600 euros. The amount of compensation depends on the route. If the delay is more than two hours, passengers are also entitled to care services such as food and drinks, and in the case of delays of more than one day, passengers are entitled to a hotel and transfer.
