Crimean operator "wave mobile" approved a program for the development of communications on the peninsula

SIMFEROPOL, March 7th. /TASS/. The mobile operator “Volna mobile” has approved a multibillion-dollar program for the development of communications in the Crimean peninsula for three years. It involves improving the quality of communication in Simferopol, Sevastopol and other cities and regions. This was reported to journalists on Tuesday in the press service of the operator.

“An investment program for the development of communications on the peninsula has been approved, which includes the purchase of equipment, the construction of base stations for mobile communications and other activities that will allow using the Internet at mainland speeds. The multibillion-dollar program is designed for three years,” the report says.

The amount of funding for the program is not specified. As the press service of the mobile operator explained to TASS, last year about 3 billion rubles were allocated for the development of the peninsula’s mobile communications infrastructure.

It is noted that in 2023 the quality of communication will improve in different regions of the peninsula – in Sevastopol, Simferopol and the Simferopol region, in Yalta, Evpatoria, Feodosia, Dzhankoy, and a number of other cities and regions of Crimea. The new towers will also strengthen the strategically important objects of the peninsula.

The operator’s press service noted that since 2021, investments in communications infrastructure have increased fivefold, thereby allowing not only to maintain, but also to improve signal quality with ever-increasing consumption. Last year alone, the operator recorded a 40% increase in Internet traffic.

As of 2022, the company is included in the list of the largest mobile operators in Crimea and provides voice and mobile data services in 2G, 3G, 4G standards throughout the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
