Cars 0 km in low: fewer sales in February

The sale of zero kilometer cars had a significant drop in the City in February when comparing the numbers with the first month of 2023. In turn, it registered a slight year-on-year rise when compared to February of the previous year, according to data reported by the national address of the Automotive Property Registry (DNRPA). A similar trend was registered in the province of Buenos Aires and in the country.

In January of this year, 1,327 units were sold, while last month 698 vehicles were registered. The difference in the drop is 47 percent. However, there is a positive difference if the numbers are compared with February 2022, slight, of 4.49 percent.

In the province of Buenos Aires and in the country the figures and tendencies are similar -see separately-.

According to the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reports that the number of patented vehicles during February 2023 amounted to 30,121 units, which represents an increase of 3.5 percent year-on-year, since in February 2022 they had registered 29,103 units. In this way, in the two accumulated months of the year, 80,486 units were patented, this is 10.8 percent more than in the same period of 2022, in which 72,609 vehicles had been registered.

The president of ACARA, Ricardo Salomé commented: “February ratifies a start to the year with an acceptable two-month period, with figures similar to those of last year and with growth, we know that if we had had more cars available, the registrations would have been higher.”

The lack of other investment options such as a vehicle, which also allows you to enjoy it quickly, has accelerated the decision to buy, although we continue to face the problem of the lack of a complete offer, due to global problems and local restrictions. As the year progresses and the settlement of foreign exchange can be accelerated, the release of vehicles and parts will grow, something that has become key to accompany this growing demand but that quickly finds limits, they assured in the Acara report.

They also indicated that “the recent easing of the agreement with the IMF, announced at this time, will also help to continue stabilizing the macro economy, historically when economic activity improves our sector is a central protagonist. The conformation of the offer, but also of the demand, are supplied with more and more national cars, which has opened a great opportunity for greater integration and promotion of national production. If we grow, many related industries grow. This start of the year is auspicious but the best is yet to come, which is why we are excited that the 420,000 vehicles estimated for 2023 may only be one floor”.

As for patenting by brand, Toyota once again led the month with 5,931 registered units and a 20.9 percent share of the total market. It was followed in the top five by Fiat with 4,574 units (16.1 percent); Peugeot with 3,323 vehicles (11.7 percent); Volkswagen with 3,260 units (11.5 percent) and Renault with 2,833 registrations (10%)

Regarding the models most chosen by Argentines in February, the Fiat Cronos remained in the lead with 4,021 registrations in the month, followed by the Peugeot 208 (2,888), the Toyota Hilux pick-up (1,880), the Toyota Etios (1,796 ), the ick ups Volkswagen Amarok (1,623) and Ford Ranger (1,521), the Renault Kangoo (1,238), Chevrolet Tracker (811), the Toyota Corolla Cross (697) and the Volkswagen Taos (696).

Meanwhile, the warning lights came on due to the drop in the sale of used cars in the country (see separate). The phenomenon marks a downward trend with respect to the 2022 and 2021 markets, according to a report from the Automotive Chamber of Commerce.
