Boston subway ceiling collapses and nearly hits passenger;  Watch the video

One woman was almost hit but managed to escape at the last minute; MBTA’s interim general manager said they are investigating the incident.

Part of the subway roof Bostonnos USA, collapsed last Wednesday, the 1st, and nearly hit a passenger who was passing by at the time. In a video shared on social networks, you can see the moment when everything happens. The woman is walking towards the stairs when suddenly the ceiling collapses right in front of her. In a statement to the press, the acting general manager of the MBTA, Jeff Gonneville, said that the aluminum panel that fell was about 3 meters. “I am extremely grateful and relieved that there were no injuries as a result of this accident,” said the man who also reported that the dashboard was old, dating back to 1978, was wet and showed signs of corrosion. After the accident, Gonneville said an inspection was being carried out at other stations where false ceilings were installed. “We are leveraging all of our resources to investigate this issue, discover its cause and implement all necessary solutions to ensure this does not happen again,” said the interim general manager. In 2021 an inspection had been carried out at the station, but no visible defects were found.
