Bachmann club Watford fires coach Slaven Bilic

ÖFB goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann gets a new coach at Watford. The English second division club announced the separation from Slaven Bilic on Tuesday.

The former Croatian team boss was only a little over five months in office at the ninth place in the championship. It was his downfall that only one of the last eight league matches was won. When Bilic took office, Watford was tenth.

“We have ambitions to achieve something else this season. That’s why we need a new impetus now because the chance of promotion is still realistic,” says Watford’s technical director Ben Manga.

In England’s second division, the first two teams manage to get promoted, the teams in positions three to six fight for another starting place in the top flight. Watford is only four points behind Norwich City in sixth place.

Bilic is the 18th manager to lose his job since the club was taken over by the Italian Pozzo family in 2012. The 13-time ÖFB team goalie Bachmann kept the goal in all 35 championship games over the full distance.
