Arms of honor in the middle of the National Assembly: moment of surreal hesitation for Eric Dupond-Moretti

This Tuesday, March 7, Eric Dupond-Moretti sowed discord in the National Assembly by making two arms of honor, supposedly addressed to the president of the LR group in full session. The Keeper of the Seals quickly apologized for his gesture.

Rififi at the Assembly! This Wednesday, in the middle of the session, Eric Dupond-Moretti made not one, but two arms of honor, probably in the direction of LR deputies in the National Assembly. It was the Minister of Justice himself who recognized his gesture after being pinned down by MP LR Patrick Hetzel. “Normally, a Minister of the Republic in Parliament should have a duty to set an exampleobviously there is nothing“, launched the latter at the microphone of the Assembly. Eric Dupond-Moretti was then invited to speak to defend himself. But to everyone’s surprise, the minister admitted the facts of which he was accused. “I am surely not the arbiter of elegance“, first launched Eric Dupond-Moretti before admitting: “There is not a finger of honor, there are two, but accompanied by words each time!

A beginning of confession which did not fail to arouse indignation in the stands, and in particular with Élodie Jacquier-Laforge, the president of the session, who seemed completely hallucinated by the news. “Sir, what exactly are you talking about? You did two braces of honour, is that what you’re telling the Assembly? I ask you to clarify your words because if so, it is absolutely not acceptable. (…) you don’t have to do arm of honor in the precincts of The national assembly Minister !”, exclaimed the president, stunned. And Eric Dupont-Moretti to answer: “I said, Madam, arm of honor to the presumption of innocence. I said it twice!“, before returning to his place.

A chaotic scene which led to a suspension of the session, following which the Minister clarified that his gesture was not addressed to Olivier Marleix, the President LR of the Assembly, but to the words of the latter when he mentioned the “indictment of members of the government“.”I regret this gesture (…) It is a gesture of a person who reacted to an accusation that he does not consider founded and who has been saying so for two years“, then apologized Eric Dupond-Moretti, saying to himself “deeply affected by this moment“.”If my gesture was misinterpreted, I apologize to all the national representation“, he added.
