Now the girl knows that they are after her, and she tries to wake up her partner, who is still dying.

More recovered, Joel has managed to violently get rid of the attackers who have come to his shelter, but not before finding out where on the map is silver lake to find Ellie. The young woman, for her part, has tried to attack the group, but she has been stopped by David and has locked him in a dungeon.

Ellie is invited to the community

In an intense dialogue between David and Ellie, the pastor tells the girl the motivations that lead him to save her life: he can create a stable community with her, and she could lead a happy and peaceful life. The inconsistencies in David’s character begin to appear: he is a believer in the value of every soul, but Ellie realizes that the village resorts to cannibalism to survive..

David comments that the cordyceps performs the same functions: it expands and survives out of love, to protect its own, and resort to violence if necessary. Through the bars, David approaches her hand to Ellie’s to indicate that she can trust him, and the girl seizes the moment. to break a finger and bite him.

With James’ help, they place Ellie on a cutting table. David is about to cut him with a butcher knife until the young woman tells them that is infectedand after his bite, david is too. The preacher stops her plan of attack, and in a clever maneuver, Ellie grabs the knife and plunges it into James’s neck. David begins to chase the girl throughout the villa’s dining room, where Ellie causes a fire with some embers. “Struggling is what I enjoy the most,” David confesses to the young woman’s most sadistic side. In a fierce scene Ellie reaches to pick up a knife and certifies as many cuts to David that blood comes to splatter on camera while everything around him burns.
