TAP defends administrators fired by the Government and has already given instructions to receive money from Alexandra Reis

TAP has already instructed its lawyers to return the compensation paid to Alexandra Reis and says that its administrators dismissed by the Government acted “in good faith” in the process, according to the contradictory of the carrier to the Audit by the Inspectorate General of Finance (IGF).

In the document, released within the scope of the publication of the IGF audit report, TAP informed that, “through its lawyers, it has already communicated to the representatives” of Alexandra Reis “its intention to demand the return of the full payment of the amount that be indicated by this general inspection in its final report approved by the Government”.

Alexandra Reis you will have to return a total of 450,110.26 euros of compensation paid to him by TAP, according to the audit report.

The carrier also said that, “with a view to improving its internal processes and advising the governing bodies on matters of verifying compliance with rules and regulations (‘compliance’), TAP is in the process of identifying and recruiting a ‘compliance officer’”.

The company refers that, “keeping within its own institutional perspective in this context, it would like to point out its conviction that the Chairman of the Board of Directors (Manuel Beja) and the Chief Executive Officer (Christine Ourmières- Widener) acted in good faith.”

In addition, TAP “has already taken the initiative to terminate the service provision contract with the law firm that provided legal advice on the matter”.

The IGF concluded that the agreement signed for the departure of Alexandra Reis from TAP is null, said the Government, which will ask for the refund of the values.

Verification by the IGF of the legality of the compensation (500 thousand euros) paid to Alexandra Reis was determined on December 27 last year by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Medina, and by the then Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos.
