Another serious accident happened on Monday afternoon in the St. Veit district. A 23-year-old forest worker was hit by a tree while he was felling wood near Guttaring.
The 23-year-old was working with a colleague (33) on steep terrain in Ratteingraben, Guttaring municipality, with logging work. At around 1:50 p.m., the 23-year-old wanted to attach the cable winch to a 20-meter-long tree trunk. The trunk started to move and rolled over the young forest worker. The 33-year-old, who was near the forest tractor, immediately rushed to help and informed the emergency services. Due to the steep terrain and dense forest, the C11 rescue helicopter was only able to land 150 meters away. The ambulance was brought to the scene of the accident in an SUV. Due to the serious injuries of the 23-year-old, the rescue helicopter carried out a rope rescue and flew the man to the Klagenfurt clinic.
