Neymar Júnior will undergo surgery on his right ankle and will miss the remainder of the season, as reported by PSG on Monday in a statement through their networks. “Following his last sprain on February 20, the Paris Saint-Germain medical team has recommended a ligament repair operation, to avoid a greater risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted confirmed this need, ”says the medical statement published by the Parisian club.
The Brazilian striker was injured in a French League game against Lille on February 19 after a sprain that forced him to be stretchered off during the second half of the game. The footballer’s right ankle has had problems for years. He already had to undergo surgery in 2018 and another sprain forced him to miss several World Cup matches in Qatar. The surgery will take place in the next few days at the ASPETAR Hospital in Doha. “A drop of 3 to 4 months is expected before he returns to collective training,” indicates the PSG statement.
The bad news accumulates for the Parisian club, which will be without one of its star players for the rest of the season. This Wednesday, PSG visits Bayern Munich for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. Neymar’s injury also joins the news of Achraf Hakimi’s alleged involvement in a rape, for which he was charged last Friday.
