In 1999, a missing woman was found in northern Puerto Rico. She wandered aimlessly through the streets and could not explain who she was and where she came from. Since then, the American has lived in a nursing home. Only after many years did she begin to talk about her past. Nursing home staff contacted the Pennsylvania police, and they were able to confirm her identity through DNA samples.

The woman’s family was shocked when they found out that their relative was alive and in Puerto Rico. Her husband said that he felt great relief when he learned about the fate of the disappeared wife.

“She was afraid that she would be taken to the hospital. Presumably, this was the reason for her decision to flee the country,” the police explained. Patricia Copta’s sister Gloria Smith said that before marriage, her sister often traveled to Puerto Rico with friends.

She noted that she would be glad to go to the island to visit her sister. “It doesn’t matter if she recognizes me or not,” the woman admitted. “I still want to see her, hug her and tell her that I love her.”

Earlier it was reported that a schoolgirl from the German city of Celle left home, was found two weeks later in another country and it turned out that she had lost her memory. The girl’s father suggested that the memory loss was caused by stress due to the strict restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic.
