Hallescher FC without captain Nietfeld for weeks

Third division soccer team Hallescher FC will have to do without captain Jonas Nietfeld for weeks. As the club announced, the defender tore an outer ligament in his left ankle in added time during Saturday’s 3-2 win at SV Meppen, and parts of the inner ligament were also affected. That was the result of an MRI scan on Sunday morning. The injury is to be treated conservatively, so it is uncertain how long the downtime will be.

Nietfeld twisted his ankle on landing after a header duel and then had to be transported to the dressing room. We paid dearly for this win, coach Sreto Ristic explained immediately after the final whistle.
