Ed Sheeran announced a new album, which will appear on May 5, 2023. Unfortunately, the joyful news for fans contained a note of bitterness. As the musician confessed, the material was created due to the traumatic experiences he had in his personal life. He was greatly influenced by diagnosed by his then-pregnant wife.

Traumatic experiences from this period Sheeran decided to put on paper.
“I worked on ‘Subtract’ for a decade, trying to create the perfect acoustic album. I wrote and recorded hundreds of songs with a clear vision of this work,” he wrote on social media. “Later, in early 2022, a series of events changed my life, my mental health and ultimately my view of music and art. Writing songs is therapy for me. It helps give meaning to my feelings. So I wrote without thinking about what kind of song it would be.”
What exactly happened? As we learn from the rest of the post, Cherry was diagnosed with a tumor that could not be operated on due to her pregnancy.
“I was spiraling down a spiral of fear, depression and anxiety. I felt like I was drowning, with my head below the surface, looking up but unable to break through for air. As an artist, I didn’t feel like I could credibly place a piece of art into the world that didn’t reflect exactly where I am and how I need to express myself at this point in my life. This record is just that,” he wrote. Although it was reported that a child – a second girl – was born, her parents did not reveal her name. It is also not known how Sheeran’s wife is currently feeling and what the further prognosis is.
