BAKU, March 6. /TASS/. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry demanded that Armenia stop supplying weapons to Karabakh, warning that otherwise measures would be taken to neutralize the illegal Armenian armed formations located there.
“Once again we warn that Armenia must immediately and once and for all stop the supply of military goods to the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as the dispatch and rotation of the personnel of the Armenian armed forces. The Armenian troops must be completely withdrawn from the territory of our country. Otherwise, the Azerbaijani side is forced will, using all possibilities, take the necessary measures to disarm and neutralize illegal armed groups,” the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It notes that, contrary to the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, “Armenia continues to supply weapons, ammunition, supplies and other military equipment to illegal Armenian armed groups in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan, in addition, personnel are being rotated.” “The Russian peacekeeping contingent must fulfill its duties in order to immediately stop such unacceptable cases,” the statement emphasizes.
The defense ministry noted that the clash that took place last Sunday and the continuation of the illegal transportation of military goods by Armenia to the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan “once again confirm the need to ensure the regime of control on the Lachin road.”
On Sunday, the Azerbaijani defense department reported that on the morning of March 5, units of the Azerbaijani army tried to stop for inspection an Armenian car that was carrying out illegal deliveries of military cargo. According to the Ministry of Defense, the passengers of the car opened fire on the Azerbaijani military. As a result of the skirmish, two servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were killed. The Armenian side reported three dead.
