Alexandra Reis will return most of the 500,000 euros she received from TAP, announced the former manager of the company in a statement sent after the decision of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), which decided that 450,110.26 euros must be paid of the amount paid after departure, which was “TAP’s initiative”.

The also former Secretary of State for the Treasury makes it clear that she does not agree with the decision, but says that she does not want to have “a euro on which the slightest suspicion falls”. “I cannot agree with the IGF report, that is, with an opinion, which is nothing more than that, which rewrites what happened to give what is probably the easiest answer. However, wrong”, can be read in the statement.

Alexandra Reis’ reaction is an attack on TAP, clarifying that the decision to leave was taken unilaterally by the company’s CEO, Christine Ourmières-Widener, who just got fired this Monday following the same IGF report.

“To be clear from the start: the agreement resulted from an initiative and proposal by TAP, which I accepted in good faith. And I agreed with the ultimate aim of avoiding institutional problems within TAP’s Executive Committee and because I had the firm that the same would be lawful, as well as all my subsequent acts”, adds the former manager, who understands that, in this scenario, what happened was a “dismissal for mere convenience”.

Alexandra Reis emphasizes that the decision to leave was made by the CEO, arguing that, in this scenario, she was entitled to compensation.

“I agreed to leave a company, to which I gave myself with all my commitment and dedication in defending its interests, in one of the most difficult moments of its existence, in complete good faith, and, although I disagree with the opinion of the IGF and nothing oblige me to do so, I reaffirm what I always said I would do: by my own will, I will return what the IGF indicates, regretting the character attacks that I have been the target of in recent months and with my eyes set on the future”, he ends.
