This Wednesday, March 8, the traditional mobilization for International Women’s Day will take place.
The call is for 17 hours from Plaza Moreno. One of the conveners, Laura Granillo -leader of Las Rojas (Nuevo MAS)-, said that “this 8M is going to be a new day of struggle for those of us who want a full life without violence. That is why throughout the country we are going to take over the streets and squares to tell them that we are not taking a step back and that we are going to go for everything”.
Granillo remarked that “the data so far this year is chilling: one femicide every 28 hours and more than 17 trans transvesticides. But Fernández (Alberto) is proud of a Ministry without a budget, without policies to prevent violence. It is no longer a cardboard ministry, it is more like wet paper. The latest victim is Verónica González, a 28-year-old girl murdered by her partner with a shot to the neck in front of her son. The most forceful response was given by her relatives, who carried out two roadblocks together with organizations of the feminist movement, such as Las Rojas, who we were accompanying from minute one. ”
