Elements of the National Guard suffer an accident... now in Chiapas

A truck carrying members of the National Guard in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas, overturned at kilometer 31 of the San Cristóbal de las Casas – Chiapa de Corzo highway.

Another vehicle was affected at the scene. So far the preliminary balance is 50 people injured, but confirmation of the details is awaited.

The incident occurred in front of the Las Delicias restaurant.

Ambulances from the Mexican Army arrived at the site, as well as another detachment of the National Guard, who took charge of attending to the emergency.

The rescue work continues and the officers have gone to the ravines to investigate if anyone fell to those sites during the accident.

This is the second accident of the week that involves elements of the National Guard; On Tuesday, January 31, in Celaya, two officers died and 4 were injured when the official patrol tried to get past the train.

Earlier, on January 22, in the jurisdiction of Santiago Zacatepec Mixe, Oaxaca, another GN truck overturned, resulting in one officer dead and four injured.
