New US ambassador to Russia arrives in Moscow

Lynne Tracy, the new US Ambassador to Russia, has arrived in Moscow. The embassy published a photo of the diplomat at a Moscow airport on Thursday night.

Lynne Tracy, the new US ambassador to Russia, has arrived in Moscow, the embassy said on Thursday night. She is the first woman in history to hold this position.

“Welcome back to Russia, Ambassador Tracy!” the US agency tweeted. The corresponding photo shows the diplomat at a Moscow airport.

Tracy was sworn in as ambassador to the Russian Federation on January 9th. The diplomat speaks Russian and was deputy head of mission at the US Embassy in Moscow from 2014 to 2017. Since 2019 she has been US Ambassador to Armenia. Before that she also worked in Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

Her predecessor, Ambassador John Sullivan, left office in September 2022 due to his wife’s illness.
