Wedding: Bride does not invite girlfriend - because she wants to celebrate a childless party

The wedding should be the most beautiful day in the life of the bride and groom. Of course you want to share this special moment with your loved ones. Whether friends or family.

But one bride simply didn’t send one of her friends an invitation to her wedding. Why? She wanted to celebrate a childless party.

Wedding: That’s why the bride doesn’t invite her friend

If you are now thinking of a childless party, you might be thinking of smaller children who could scream or romp around during the wedding ceremony. But that was far from the case at this wedding. Because the bridal couple has banned everyone from their wedding who is under 21 years old. The bride herself reports on Reddit.

The reason? The couple wants to have a boozy party, including alcohol. Neither of them feel like spending the whole evening making sure that no one under the age of 21 drinks alcohol. Since very few of her friends have children, the requirement was not a problem.

Except for Mel. The bride’s 20-year-old friend did not receive an invitation to the wedding either. Of course, that didn’t go unnoticed by her. That friend had noticed that everyone else in her circle of friends had been invited. So Mel confronted the bride.

Wedding for guests over 21? That causes criticism

The bride tried to explain to her that it was nothing personal. But my girlfriend understood it that way. “She said it wasn’t a big deal because we’d been drinking together before. But I tried to explain to her that it was different because we were both underage. Now that I’m an adult, I feel responsible for making sure that no one under the age of majority drinks alcohol. And it’s my right as a bride to say I want a child-free wedding,” she wrote on Reddit.

However, all of these arguments did not have the intended effect on her friend. On the contrary. Mel would talk bad about her to her friends. Justified, isn’t it? The bride wants to know from Reddit users if she’s the “asshole” of the story. That’s exactly what the topic under which she shared her story is called: “Am I the Asshole?”.

The unloading actually met with little understanding among Reddit users. “It’s odd that you would call someone just a year younger than you a child. Do you think you are old enough to get married? When you’re so close to being a child?” someone asks and gets a lot of approval. Others try to make the bride understand that just because you’ve reached a certain age, you’re not automatically an adult.
