This Wednesday afternoon, the Senate ratified its list of twelve people who will make up the Expert Commission of the new constituent process, which will join the twelve members appointed by the Chamber of Deputies.

The list was endorsed by the Chamber of the Upper House by 41 votes in favor, three against and one abstention.

For the ruling party, the experts are Gabriel Osorio (PS), Catalina Lagos (PS), Leslie Sánchez (PL), Gonzalo García (DC), Flavia Torrealba (FRVS) and Francisco Soto (PPD).

On the opposition side, the agreed names are Sebastián Soto (Evópoli), Bettina Horst (UDI); Hernán Larraín (UDI), Teodoro Ribera (RN), Katherine Martorell (RN) and Jaime Arancibia (RN). It should be noted that Larraín was Minister of Justice and Martorell Undersecretary for Crime Prevention, both during the government of former President Sebastián Piñera.

They will join those chosen by the Lower House: Verónica Undurraga (PPD); Alexis Cortes (PC); Antonia Rivas (FA); Domingo Lovera (FA); Paz Anastasiadis (DC); Flavio Quezada (PS); Marcela Peredo (PDG); Juan José Ossa (RN); Catherine Salem (RN); Natalia González (UDI); Maximo Pavez (RN); and Carlos Frontaura (REP).

It should be remembered that the Expert Commission must prepare a preliminary draft that will serve as the basis for the Constitutional Council to draft a proposal for a new Constitution. You will have three months to carry out this work as of March 6.
