This Wednesday morning the Minister of the General Secretariat of Government, Camila Vallejo, downplayed the controversy that has sparked the leak of an audio from the Foreign Ministry, which addresses the criticisms made by the Argentine ambassador to Chile, Rafael Bielsa, about the Dominga project.
In the recording released by WhatsApp, Minister Antonia Urrejola is heard speaking with her team in an informal tone, including scribbling, about the objections of the trans-Andean diplomat regarding the rejection of the Committee of Ministers to the mining-port initiative. A fact that later motivated the departure of the communications director of the portfolio, Lorena Díaz, in addition to harsh criticism in the political arena, mainly from sectors of the opposition and Democratic Socialism.
In an activity with the Mineduc, Vallejo supported the chancellor and emphasized that “our diplomatic relations are in perfect condition, we have good and historical relations with Argentina, these are maintained and this is also what the president of that country has pointed out. Therefore, these relations will be maintained because they are a fundamental part of our foreign policy.”
“Regarding any other detail and precision, it is the chancellor herself, who is already in our country, who can be referred to, but add to what has been stated that an audio file was shared by mistake from the press office of the Chancellery , that had consequences, the immediate resignation of the press officer and the important thing is to continue taking care of diplomatic relations and they are in perfect condition”, he pointed out.
Consulted about the questions raised by the ruling party itself, the Secretary of State maintained that they are “legitimate opinions and criticism in the field of politics.”
“I insist this is a conversation that takes place in a private work space and does not call into question the diplomatic relations we have and in addition to the commitment that Chile and particularly our Government have made in terms of multilateralism, protection and protection of the interests of our nation, within the framework of multilateral relations. That has been part of our seal, of our agenda, of our international deployment, ”he added.
Along these lines, the spokeswoman for La Moneda highlighted the work regarding “concern for national interests, for our sovereignty, for our internal policy, but within the framework of integration and collaboration of countries” and insisted that “this It will continue to be part of our agenda, beyond this specific situation”.
