Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov expressed the opinion that the decision to postpone the match for the UEFA Super Cup from Kazan was expected after the canceled Champions League final in St. Petersburg.

“I had no hopes that the match would be held in Kazan. The Super Cup is held under the auspices of UEFA, so what could be illusions, hopes. Immediately after the announcement of this decision, it became clear to me that we would not have any match for the Super Bowl, ”Then24 quoted Koloskov as saying.

On January 25, UEFA moved the venue for the 2023 UEFA Super Cup match from Kazan to Athens.

On January 24, the RFU held a meeting with UEFA. The key theme is the return of Russian teams and clubs to international competitions.

Recall that last year, UEFA decided to move the Champions League final of the 2021/22 season from St. Petersburg to Paris due to the situation in Ukraine.
