Claudio Da Passano, actor of "Argentina, 1985"with a long career in theater and TV

The actor Claudio Da Passano died this Wednesday at the age of 66s, as reported by the Argentine Association of Actors. With a long career in theater, film and television, one of his last roles was in “Argentina, 1985”the film about the Trial of the Juntas that this Tuesday was nominated for the Oscars 2023. Born in May 1957, Da Passano had a very long career in the world of actingespecially in the theater, where he worked in more than 30 plays throughout his career, including “Romeo and Juliet”, “Knock Knock”, “Hamlet and Earthly”.

At the cinema, Da Passano gave life to dozens of roles since the 1980s, one of the last was in “Argentina, 1985”where he put himself in the shoes of Carlos “Maco” Somiglianathe anthropologist who was part of the team of prosecutors who worked on the investigation together with Julio Cesar Strassera and Luis Moreno Ocampo in the trial of the Military Juntas.

“When the dictatorship ended, at the same time I realized that freedom is the absence of fear and being able to go out on the streets. We lived ten years in terror, my parents were threatened by Triple A and, later, by the military. They were very hard years and what I aspire to is that the film is the beginning of a great debate that we Argentines owe ourselves so that certain things are not touched, regardless of the political ideology that each one has”, Da Passano had affirmed months ago in an interview, after the premiere of “Argentina, 1985”.

But in addition, Da Passano worked in films such as “Dad went crazy”, “Me baby, me princess” and “Open day and night”, among many others. He also had a long career on television, where he composed roles in “Amor prohibido”, the well-remembered series “Frecuencia 04”, “Los secretos de papá”, “Chiquititas”, “Poliladron” and “El tigre Verón”, among many others.

In his program AM750, Víctor Hugo Morales was shocked by the death of Da Passanowith whom he had a close relationship, since Da Passano was one of the protagonists of the play “El reproche”, which the journalist wrote and premiered in 2022.
