Another ski tourer, who was traveling uphill independently of the group in the same area, was eventually also buried and apparently remained so for hours.

In the meantime, alarmed mountain rescuers had to be flown out of the valley again because fog kept coming in and endangering the operation, operations manager Gerhard Fiegl from the Obertilliach mountain rescue service told ORF Tirol. It was only later that they were rescued. Helicopters, mountain rescue teams from Obertilliach and Sillian and the alpine police were deployed.
Two injured in Carinthia
Two people were also injured in an avalanche on Goldeck near Spittal an der Drau on Wednesday afternoon. Upon request, the police confirmed a corresponding report by ORF Carinthia.
