Officials of the National Bureau of the Union of Youth of the Rassemblement Pour le Mali (BN UJ-RPM) faced the press on January 19, 2023, at the Maison des Aînés in Bamako to inform public opinion of their resignation from the within the RPM Party. The resigners, 33 in number, justify their decision by the mismanagement within the RPM party marked by “hate, wickedness, lies, clanism and the promotion of the daily violation of the texts of the RPM”. To this end, they have decided to join the “Convergence 2023 Movement” created on January 5, 2023 by the former President of the National Assembly of Mali, Moussa TIMBINE.
This press briefing was moderated by the now former 1st Vice-President of the National Office of the Union of Youth of the Rassemblement Pour le Mali (BN UJ-RPM), Mrs. Zeinaba Oumar Maïga, in the presence of Tidiani Alphadi and other former influential members of the RPM youth office. After the execution of the national anthem of Mali and the observation of the minute of silence in memory of the disappeared, the speaker evoked the reasons for their resignation within the RPM. “Twenty-two years ago, we made the final decision to join the late comrade President Founder El Hadj Ibrahim Boubacar KEITA to create the movement (alternative 2000) then the RPM party / Rassemblement Pour le Mali, on June 30 2001 with the spirit of doing politics differently in a spirit of solidarity, fraternity, equity, justice and respect. This constant commitment, which has always been ours, is the fruit of an unfailing conviction that we have been able to nurture and maintain for years alongside our emblematic leader Feu IBK.
Unfortunately, this party for which we have given so much has so far become a utopia featuring a party President whose only creed is clanism instead of the Rassemblement Pour le Mali”, declared the speaker, Ms. Zeinaba Oumar Maïga. . Before adding that good governance within the party, which aroused the admiration of all and recognized by the entire political class in Mali, gave way to hatred, wickedness, lies, clanism and the promotion of the daily violation of the texts of the RPM, thus playing a fatal trick on cohesion and unity within the party. “Following the resignation of the President of the National Office of the Youth Union, the Honorable Moussa TIMBINE, we were surprised to see circulating on social networks, in violation of party texts, a decision to appoint the 3rd Deputy president of the BN in order to ensure the interim, by eliminating de facto the 1st Vice-president and the 2nd Vice-president who have not so far resigned. As if that were not enough, he also signed the circular letter, as President of the party, appointing Amadou Ouattara as Secretary General of section 5 RPM, disregarding the judgment of the Court of Appeal which stipulates that the RPM National Political Bureau has lapsed since October 23, 2019, which means that there is neither BPN a fortiori a President of the party”, underlined the now ex-1st vice-president of the RPM youth office.
According to her, these repeated violations of the founding texts of the RPM by the one who wants to be the first leader of the party prove that they no longer have a valid reason to continue their fight for democracy within the party. “In view of all the above, I announce the resignation of the signatories (33) of this declaration of the members of the National Office of RPM Youth, of all the organs and structures of the party as of today, Thursday, January 19 2023.
Thus, we respond favorably to the call launched by the Honorable President Moussa TIMBINE to join the Convergence 2023 Movement and at the same time, we invite all activists, activists of the party who love justice and patriotic feelings, to join the Convergence 2023 so that together we build a prosperous Mali, a just Mali, a united and peaceful Mali,” concluded the spokesperson for the resigning parties.
