The Metro saga has up to two games in development.
Oddly enough, 12 years have passed since the subway saga started. Developed by 4A Games in Ukraine and published in March 2010 by THQ, Metro 2033 kicked off this saga based on the novels that presented a fictional post-apocalyptic world, focusing on cities like Moscow. Now, 4A Games has advanced that it continues to work on new projects, such as the continuity of this sagawhich since Metro Exodus has not seen a new installment.
It is worth mentioning that 4A Games had its studios in kyiv, so the invasion of Ukraine initiated by Russia has seriously harmed both the company and its workers. However, the next Metro title, which was already in development in 2020, has been affected “for the better”.
“We never hide the fact that the Metro series has always carried a strong political and anti-war message. Yes, we’ve always wanted to entertain and immerse you in our post-apocalyptic world, but there’s also a bigger story to be told and the war in Ukraine has made us rethink what kind of story the next Metro should be about“, they anticipate from the study.
For now, all the topics of Metro, conflict, power, politics, tyranny and repression, “they are now part of our daily life experiences. Then, we are embracing them and weaving them into the game with a renewed purpose”.
Subway’s next game is being developed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PCfeaturing an overhaul of the 4A engine and studio renderer for “take advantage of the new power, storage, and hardware-compatible ray tracing offered by new consolesLike the previous games, it will be a story-driven single-player title.
Also, there is also a second project in development based on a multiplayer experience set in the Metro universe, although it will have a different team than the individual game. However, for now it is only possible to wait the passing of the months to receive news. Finally, it should be remembered that Metro Exodus is adapted to the new generation.
