Snowfall continues - Styria: 4000 households without electricity

The heavy snowfalls of the past few hours have also had an impact on the power supply: Tuesday morning was dark in around 4,000 southwestern Styrian households. The energy suppliers are working at full speed.

From Hirschegg via Deutschlandsberg to Leutschach an der Weinstraße: 4,000 households have been struggling with electricity since the early hours of the morning. “188 transformer stations are currently out,” reported Urs Harnik, spokesman for Energie Steiermark You are on duty to supply all affected households again as quickly as possible.”Chaos on the streetsIt is also still happening on the streets: for example, several streets in the south and west of Styria had to be closed due to fallen trees. Chains were compulsory on some higher roads, also in north-eastern Upper Styria. The Südsteirische Grenzstraße (B69) was particularly affected by the amounts of snow, as was the Packer Straße (B70) in the direction of Carinthia, where large amounts of snow also fell. There were also problems on the Grenzland-Weinstraße (L613) and the Schlossberger Landesstraße (L659) on Tuesday morning – mostly because of fallen trees or snow on the road.
