Denis Rogachev, Deputy Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), said that advertising beer products at competitions would increase clubs’ income and reduce their funding from the budget.

“RFS supports the betting market and beer advertising. The creation of controlled benefits for beer products, in our opinion, will increase the income of the RFU and clubs, reduce budget financing. With regard to beer, we understand that there is a special situation for manufacturers when they can advertise products without restrictions, indicating that they are non-alcoholic, ”Rogacheva quotes RIA News.

The ban on the sale of beer at sports venues has been in place since 2005. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed a decree lifting the ban on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages with an ethyl alcohol content of more than 16.5% at public catering establishments, museums and institutions subordinate to the Moscow Department of Culture with concert halls, as well as sports facilities. The order was valid until December 31, 2022.

Earlier, Dmitry Svishchev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, said that the organization’s committee would discuss advertising and selling beer at stadiums with the Ministry of Health.
