Chile Vamos received with satisfaction the announcement of the Constitutional Court to accept for processing the request that they entered together with the representatives of Evópoli and Democrats on January 16, where they ask that the presidential pardons granted to seven people on December 30 be declared unconstitutional .

The president of Renovación Nacional, Francisco Chahuán, called on the Government to end the ideologies and annul the benefits that were signed by President Gabriel Boric.

“We call on the President to put aside the ideological trenches, give a powerful political signal in terms of invalidating these pardons and for people who are a danger to society to go back behind bars,” said the parliamentarian.

Chahuán recalled that this presentation before the TC joins others such as the one that entered for the head of state to annul the decrees, in addition to the one that was entered into the Comptroller General’s Office to evaluate whether the procedure complies with the law.

Meanwhile, the senator and president of the UDI, Javier Macaya, maintained that the Executive has an opportunity to amend a mistake such as the delivery of these benefits.

“Call on the Government that it still has an opportunity at the constitutional headquarters to comply with the requirement. It is very different for the Government to defend itself by saying that the pardons were well granted, which would contradict what they pointed out a few weeks ago where they pointed out that if they had had all the information regarding the pardons, they might not have been granted.” Indian.

Macaya added that “it is the opportunity to amend that mistake, to accept, not to hire a lawyer to defend the pardons in the constitutional seat, but rather to put the record of something that was badly granted politically, of something where the Government has recognized a responsibility”.

During the morning, the Constitutional Court announced that it accepted for processing the claim of the parliamentarians against seven people who were pardoned at the end of December by President Gabriel Boric, a challenge that will be reviewed in plenary session of this instance next Thursday to define whether accepts the appeal.
