“We need more women in music, we need more women in culture!” With these words Christine Haberlander, women’s officer and deputy governor, announced a special event at a press conference yesterday: The Poxrucker Sisters are planning a big concert on International Women’s Day (8 March) on March 7th together with other musicians in the Brucknerhaus in Linz.
“We look forward to being on stage with renowned artists and exciting newcomers from Austria,” said Stefanie Poxrucker. The highlight of the “#weare” concert will be the live premiere of the new song “NA”, which the singing sisters will release together with Katharina Straßer at the end of February.
“A Hymn for Self-Determination”
The song fits exactly to the concerns of International Women’s Day. “It’s a hymn for self-determination and empowerment,” says Stefanie Poxrucker.
The concert in the Brucknerhaus is part of a three-part series with partner events in Vienna and Graz. In addition to the Poxrucker Sisters, singer-songwriter Virginia Ernst, The Schick Sisters from Styria and the two Upper Austrians Lika Doss and Mella Casata will perform at all concerts. Also present: the first female brass quintet in Austria, the Brassessoires. “It is with great pleasure that I support the Poxrucker Sisters at this concert, which is intended to encourage all women in the country,” said Haberlander.
