Lotto: woman really gets the money – but still looks down the drain because of brazen criminals

Lucky in the lottery – bad luck with the money. That doesn’t match? In this case from Dresden.

At the end of November 2022, a pensioner from the city had won almost 10,000 euros in the lottery – but had not seen anything of the prize until now. This is because of thieves.

Lottery ticket stolen in post office burglary

The 69-year-old from Dresden-Prohlis could have called 9,842 euros her own. After winning at the end of November, she immediately sent her lottery ticket cash on delivery to the lottery headquarters in Leipzig. But the letter never got there. And the money? The pensioner hasn’t been able to do that either.

At first there was a suspicion that the letter had got lost somewhere in the mail. However, a post spokesman has now come out with the truth. “We have researched the route of the missing mail item in detail. The internal investigations revealed that the cash on delivery letter from the letter and parcel center in Radefeld reached the Leipzig delivery base 50, from which the lottery headquarters are also supplied.” And that is exactly where the burglary took place in early December.

Missing ticket – case for the criminal police

According to “Bild” information, on the night of December 2, 2022, two men were surprised when they broke into the post office on Lilienstrasse in Neu-Schoenefeld. “We are already investigating particularly serious cases of theft,” said a police spokesman. The criminal police had taken care of it after the post office had filed a criminal complaint.

After their discovery, the burglars fled with their loot. Among them must have been the letter with the lottery ticket.

Lottery player desperate – “We need the money”

The pensioner is heartbroken. “I can only hope that the gangsters are caught, my lottery ticket turns up quickly. We need the money for our daughter who is paraplegic.” Despite the receipt, but without a certificate, she has to wait three years for payment.

However, she does not need to worry that the thieves could forestall her. The lottery headquarters in Leipzig already know, as “Bild” reports. If the thieves want to redeem the lottery ticket, the police can strike immediately.
