The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, approved on Monday the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of the country to impose restrictive measures against 21 priests of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as against the president of the Spiritual Council of the Russian Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith, Sergei Riajovsky. Among the people sanctioned is also Mikhail Gundiaev, nephew of the Patriarch of Moscow and all the Russias, Kiril.

According to document official, the sanctions, which are imposed for a period of 30 years, include: blockade of assets, restriction of commercial operations, complete cessation of the transit of resources through Ukrainian territory, ban on withdrawal of capital from Ukraine and ban on entry in the territory of the country, among others.

In addition, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform “the competent authorities of the EU, the US and other states about the imposition of the sanctions and will raise with them the question of the introduction of similar restrictive measures.”

“Today’s National Security and Defense Council decision refers to our spiritual independence, which we are strengthening and will continue to strengthen,” commented the measure Zelensky himself.
