Founder of the Wagner Group: We are vice police taking on American gangsters

The Wagner Group is the young, unbridled force that the United States fears so much, says its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin. In doing so, he is reacting to the classification of Wagner as a transnational criminal organization by the US government after its combat successes in Soledar.

After the convincing performance of the private Russian military company Wagner in capturing Soledar, the US officially classified it as a transnational criminal organization and announced new sanctions against the group.

United States resentment against Wagner dates back to the time the company derailed US military plans in Africa. The listing as a terrorist organization is perhaps unprecedented, especially considering how many US private military companies operate freely around the world, including using criminal methods.

rt wanted to know from Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin how these new steps by US officials could be explained. Yevgeny Prigozhin is convinced that the private military company Wagner has not committed any crimes, in contrast to the paramilitary structures of the USA – although attempts have been made for years to “frame various crimes in different parts of the world” on him. Prigozhin says:

“In the world there is always a battle between good and evil. The group Wagner is a force. Russian power. And that power is always on the side of good. Of course, philosophically Wagner is good for some people and bad for others. But it is evil for our enemies. The USA and Russia are sworn enemies, that’s an accepted fact no matter what you think of it. The task for the Americans is to smash Russia into small pieces, then face off against China and the other rivals to create the biggest and to remain the most powerful country in the world – so far to multipolar and unipolar world. And so far the US has done a very good job of doing this. An example of this is the USSR.”

Of course one could accuse Wagner of all sorts of things, if one tries hard, says Prigozhin. But then you should completely rewrite history – because the United States is the only country in human history that “dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki without any consequences for itself”. It is also the only country that has staged wars and revolutions in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Mozambique and Central Africa. “In some of these countries, Wagner then came into play and ended the wars with an iron hand,” says Prigozhin. “So if you look at Wagner as a criminal organization, then the US is a powerful crime syndicate that exists at the expense of the entire world.” Wagner is therefore more like the moral police, preventing the US from doing everything it would like to do, Prigozhin said. He tells:

“I know many secrets that are so troubling for the US, I have witnesses who know how CIA officers trained Osama Bin Laden and brought bags of money and weapons to ISIS in Syria and other countries. They prepared bandits and terrorists on the whole world so that there is trouble everywhere: in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America. Actually, it should only be peaceful on the beautiful dream island called United States.”

According to Prigozhin, most world powers try not to mess with the US. And the regimes that fight back “are usually first declared anti-democrats, then criminals and finally terrorists”. Wagner is “not a country or a regime, but a young, unbridled power that the United States fears so much,” said Prigozhin. He adds: “They tried to destroy this power in Deir ez-Zor in 2018, but it has recovered and faces the embodiment of global evil without fear.”
