Did you think that the rumors of the iPhone 15 were already very advanced for the dates in which we are? Well, watch out, because we can already start talking about the iPhone 16. Yes, the iPhone that we should see launched in September 2024.

And no one better to start talking about it than Ross Young and his good inside sources in the display manufacturing industry. According to the leaker, that iPhone 16 will be the first to have Face ID under the screen and not through a dynamic island.

From notch to Dynamic Island and then… Dynamic Circle?

It would be a crucial step in the evolution of what began as the notches on the iPhone X, the notches smaller in the iPhone 13 and the Dynamic Island in the iPhone 14 Pro. The 2024 iPhone would have TrueDepth sensors under the screen, being able to work under its pixels without problems.

We would not be talking about a screen without a hole: Young clarifies that the front camera would still need to have its own “hole” in the screen. But this would be much more discreet (perhaps a simple circle), and so we could still have the great user experience created with the Dynamic Island.

The iPhone 15 is entering the early stages of production, according to some sources. Yes, there are still nine months left until its launch

The goal of an iPhone with a full screen and no holes or slots in its pixels would be achieved in the more distant future, when Apple manages to maintain the quality of its camera by placing it under the screen. That can be in 2025, 2026 or beyond: in Cupertino they prefer to arrive late and well than soon and with failures. They don’t always succeed, of course, but there is the intention.
