For about a year and a half, DJs in Steyr have been serving a good cause. The “Pop-Up Aid Club”, founded in summer 2021, makes the most beautiful squares of the old town of Eisenstadt come alive with club music at open-air events and collects donations for charitable purposes.

“Club Music mends misery” (note: club music heals misery) is the motto of the association, in which all DJs make their skills available on a voluntary basis. This year, 25 events took place under this motto, at which the record result of 16,160.03 euros was brought in. “One hundred percent of these donations go to aid projects,” says association chairman Karl Landa.

exceeded expectations

After almost 6,000 euros had already been donated last year, this year collections were again made for women’s aid projects in cooperation with the Steyr women’s shelter. The sum was recently ceremoniously handed over as part of a fundraising gala in the Museum Arbeitswelt in front of 150 guests from politics, business and society with the finest club music. DJs from Soundlabs, a friendly charity project in Vienna, were also there.

“We have far exceeded all of our goals,” says Chairman Landa, who has already defined the purpose of the donation for 2023 with the Pop-Up Aid Club: “Since our gala evening, all donations have already gone 100 percent to the Wigwam child protection center. Based on the experience of this year, we hope for a similar amount in 2023.”
