The 34-year-old, who prepared the 1-0 lead in the first half, miserably missed Croatia keeper Livakovic. Then Vlasic converted confidently and shot his team into the quarterfinals.

Japan was out, bitter tears shed and Yoshida was devastated. A few days after the end, the S04 star spoke up. “The World Cup is over in no time. Sometimes you work yourself to death for it and it doesn’t pay off,” said the defender on social networks.

FC Schalke 04, on the other hand, will be happy that Yoshida will soon be joining the team again. The Japanese is scheduled to return to training with the Royal Blues on December 15th.
