The Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama highlighted the impact generated by the dairy sector in Panamanian society and economy, in his speech at the gala dinner, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Dos Pinos industry and the 30th anniversary of Snowfall.

The head of the agricultural portfolio, who was accompanied by the MIDA vice minister, Alexis Pineda, said that the government headed by President Laurentino Cortizo recognizes the effort that these companies have made for the agricultural sector and congratulates them for their drive to help strengthen the economy, generating jobs and food.

“Companies such as Dos Pinos and Nevada have given their contribution throughout these years, in which they have had to face great challenges,” said Valderrama, who added that our societies and our consumers have known how to value food production and to the man from the countryside after the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In the representation of Nevada, Andrés Solís highlighted the 30 years that this company has in Panama and, in addition, recounted its history. “These 30 years respond to the hard work, commitment and talent of the collaborators and producers who have made this operation possible,” he added.

He explained that the participation in the Panamanian market has been strengthened, with investments that exceed $120 million and the payment of $7 million in taxes to the Panamanian treasury, as a generator of more than 2 thousand jobs. In addition, he highlighted the contribution to the Panama Solidario and Vaso de Leche del Meduca program.

For his part, Gonzalo Chaves Alvarado, from the Dos Pinos Milk Producers Cooperative, thanked the authorities present for celebrating together these 105 years of history. “It is easy to say, but it has been a process of generations to fulfill the dream of the founders with the purpose of providing health, well-being and economic development to the country,” he said.
