November, Michoacán.- There are 26 fatalities that have been registered in the accidents that occurred on the Siglo XXI highway so far this 2022the non-profit organization called You deserve, released his statistics.

Through a statement the association it also reported 53 wounded victims on the so-called “Highway of Death”.

The data collected by Mereces is taken based on official figures and journalistic files that they have identified through different media, in their statement they emphasize “we do not doubt that the figure is even higher.”

The authorities point out that the most dangerous road sections of the Siglo XXI Highway and in which more accidents have been registered are:

  • New Italy – Lazaro Cardenas
  • Patzcuaro – Uruapan
  • Uruapan – New Italy

On their official website, they indicate that 111 road accidents have been registered, reported through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation of Michoacán. 26 deaths and 14 complaints filed.

Mereces, through his statement, questions the authoritiesbecause by already having the information on the most dangerous sites, it seems that there is not adequate attention to avoid bad management practices in these areas.

“At MERECES we ask ourselves if the authority already knows the sections with the highest accident rate, why don’t they do something about it? Shouldn’t there be more patrolling in those areas or road safety conditions for all of us who travel on that highway?“, they point out in the statement.

Likewise They launch a demand for constant and permanent patrolling in the area that controls speeding and penalizes those who commit risky practices.
