Russian President Vladimir Putin “met with the mothers of servicemen” – participants in the “special military operation”, informed the Kremlin press service on the afternoon of November 25. The meeting was held at the presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

At the beginning of his speech, Putin said that he “decided to talk to the mothers of servicemen” in order to hear their assessments, opinions, ideas, and proposals “first hand”. He assured that he will try to make sure that everything they talk about is taken into account and used in real life.

At the meeting, the president said that he had previously spoken with participants in the war in Ukraine (this was not previously reported). He claims to have contacted them by phone through their mothers.

I sometimes talk to them – on the phone with some I spoke directly with the guys. In any case, I spoke with those who even surprised me with their mood, their attitude to the matter. They did not expect these calls from me, also through their mothers, by the way, these calls were there. This gives me every reason to say that they are heroes. This is true.

Judging by video recordings, which were distributed by the presidential press service, 18 women participated in the meeting. Edition “We Can Explain” claims, which identified several participants in the meeting. Among them were Moscow official and United Russia deputy Olga Beltseva, head of the executive committee of the All-Russian People’s Front in the Moscow region Yulia Belekhova and member of the Orekhovo-Zuyevo Public Chamber Marina Migunova. According to the publication, the director Olesya Shigina, who shoots Orthodox patriotic films, sat closest to Putin.

Whether all the participants in the meeting have children fighting in Ukraine is not known for sure. Suna Nabieva from Dagestan at a meeting with Putin spokethat her son Enver graduated from the Kazan Higher Military Tank School, served in Buryatia and has been participating in hostilities since the first day of the war in Ukraine. Another woman said that her son Konstantin Pshenichkin, who in 2014 “went into the militia”, died.

The meeting between Vladimir Putin and the mothers of war veterans became known a few days ago, on November 22. Members of the public movement “Council of Mothers and Wives”, which unites relatives of the mobilized and conscripts, criticized the presidential administration that none of them was invited to the meeting. The organizer of the council, Olga Tsukanova, admitted that “pocket mothers” would be invited to the event.
