The Hungarian foreign minister denounced that Washington takes measures that “cause suspicions of violations of the rules that govern the world economy.”

The US is benefiting from the recession in Europe, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Friday.

“The movement of the European economy towards recession is a good news for the US economy and it seems that the US has been able to benefit from it,” said Szijjarto, aforementioned by local media.

He also noted that “the position and competitiveness of the US economy have definitely improved in recent years”, while “in the world economy the EU is currently in the losing side […] and it is clear who are the ones who benefit from the suffering of the European economy”.

Likewise, the Hungarian foreign minister denounced that Washington takes measures that “provoke suspicions of violations of the rules that govern the world economy.” Specifically, it is about “the US Inflation Reduction Act, discrimination against European electric cars and aluminum tariffs,” he listed.

Recently, the newspaper Politico reported that the entry into force of this new law could provoke a trade war between the North American country and the European Union.

The outlet notes that “the problem for Europeans” is that “Washington’s scheme will encourage companies to transfer investments outside of Europe” and customers to “buy American.”
