Travel strains, strenuous races, umpteen interviews – that determined the life of Formula 1 star Sebastian Vettel for over 16 years. That’s over now.

For Sebastian Vettel, the end of his career in Formula 1 marks the beginning of a new chapter in his life. He will no longer rush from race to race and instead focus on other things.

Formula 1: Vettel is planning that now

Sebastian Vettel has finished Formula 1. He is looking forward to the new era – without all the hustle and bustle of the premier class of motorsport. Vettel does not have a concrete plan for the time after his career. In the podcast “Sinneswandel” he now revealed what’s coming up in his life in the future.

“First of all, what I’m looking forward to the most is simply having the time at home, for all the things, the books that have been left lying around, the things that have all piled up at home, just time with the children to spend,” says Vettel.

However, the 35-year-old does not become a helicopter father because of this. “It’s not like I’m saying: now I’m a helicopter father and every day I circle around the children. On the contrary, I want them to have their own experiences and be able to stand on their own two feet and make their mistakes,” said Vettel.

Vettel: “I can imagine continuing to do this in the future”

What is pending beyond that, Vettel leaves open. He intends to continue his projects on the subject of sustainability and not keep his opinion secret. “Right now I don’t know what the exact answer is or how to phrase it exactly because I don’t have a concrete plan yet. But I think I’ve had a lot of fun over the past few years getting involved, voicing my opinion when I felt it would help,” said Vettel. “I can already imagine continuing to do so in the future.”

But Vettel also admitted: “There are so many things that can mean so much to me. Will they then have the same radiance to the outside world? Probably not. That I’ll find something tomorrow that I’m just as good at as in motorsport or as a racing driver? Probably not.”
